Barovier Cup

THE BAROVIER CUP. The Masterpiece of Renaissance Glassware. This was created in 1460 by the master glassmaker Angelo Barovier as a wedding gift (it is as a matter of fact a wedding cup) and is still today reproduced following the same techniques as 500 years ago: handblown from a mixture of vitreous paste (Chalcedony), the deep-blue glass cup is then is hand painted and gilded. There are portraits of the bride and groom enclosed in two medallions, scenes of the cavalcade towards the Fountain of Love and Youth. The original is found at the Venice Glass Museum in Murano. A curiosity: this is the cup that James Bond 007 tries to save in the movie "Moonraker" of 1979.

Decoration by Diego Salvadori. 8x(h)7 inches
